Garrett Hausman, OD, MPH
Dr. Garret Hausman is a residency-trained and board-certified Optometrist who specializes in ocular disease. Dr. Hausman received both his Doctor of Optometry and his Masters in Public Health from MCPHS University School of Optometry in Worcester, MA. After receiving his dual degree, he completed a residency in advanced ocular disease at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Providence, RI.
During residency, Dr. Hausman spent time training in the following subspecialties: retina, cornea, glaucoma, oculoplastics, neurophthalmology, and general ophthalmology. He also oversaw the clinical training of Optometry students and ensured the quality of care they provided.
In 2025, Dr. Hausman presented continuing education lectures to fellow Optometrists in the areas of posterior segment ocular disease. A notable lecture discussed the differential diagnosis of macular edema and its association with diabetic eye disease.
Because of his notable work and lectures during residency, Dr. Hausman was asked to present a poster at the American Academy of Optometry describing the clinical presentation and management of choroidal hemangiomas.
Dr. Hausman is a proud alumnus of SUNY Oswego where he played rugby. He is still an active rugby player and is invited to play in the Annual Can-Am Rugby Tournament in Saranac Lake, NY. Dr. Hausman resides in Cranston, RI and enjoys visiting Rhode Island beaches and finding the best food in the state. Tell him your restaurant suggestions during your next visit!
